Château Charmail Haut-Médoc

Château Charmail is situated in the prestigious Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux, renowned for its exceptional gravelly soils. This unique terroir is ideal for cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot grapes. The mineral-rich soil imparts distinctive characteristics to the wine, contributing to its complex flavor profile and remarkable aging potential. The estate encompasses 52 hectares, with vines averaging 30 years of age. The wine is matured in a combination of large concrete eggs and demi-muids (600-liter oak barrels). The reduced oak influence allows for a more authentic representation of the wine's intrinsic character. Following this initial phase, the wine undergoes 12 months of aging in French oak barrels, with 30% new oak. This final stage enhances the wine's complexity and facilitates the seamless integration of tannins, resulting in a refined and well-structured wine.
