250 Years of History

Real Companhia Velha, also known as Royal Oporto Winery, is the oldest wine company in Portugal, operating uninterruptedly since 1756 in the service of Port Wine. Established by royal charter under King D. José I, it was initially created to regulate Port wine production and trade, playing a crucial role in defining the Douro wine region's boundaries and quality standards. Over the centuries, the company expanded its influence, acquiring significant vineyards and cellars in the Douro Valley.
